SAN DIEGO -- CSA Travel Protection for the first time upped its
coverage limits for agents who purchase certain travel insurance
plans on the company's Web site, through Amadeus, Vacation.com's
AgentNet or through Trams' ClientBase Plus.
For these online bookings, CSA said, agents will receive 2%
bonus commissions and "instant" e-mail confirmations.
When agents book CSA Vacation Guarantee Silver or Gold plans
through those preferred venues, the following coverages have been
increased:
• Emergency Evacuation is $250,00 per person (the prior coverage
through online/Amadeus GDS bookings was $50,000, which is still the
top limit if booked through the mail, fax or phone);
• Medical and Dental is $50,000 per person (up from $10,000
otherwise);
• Trip Delay is $1,000 (up from $750 if booked through phone, fax
or mail).
CSA's chief financial officer Claudia Fullerton said the
increased coverages are possible because of "the economies of
e-commerce."
Fullerton told TravelWeekly.com that CSA previously had
incentives for online and Amadeus bookings, but this is the first
time that increased coverages are being used as an attraction.
For now, Fullerton explained, CSA travel insurance can only be
booked in Amadeus among the GDSs. The insurance company has been a
preferred supplier for Vacation.com for several years, she
added.
The CSA Web site is at www.csatravelprotection.com.
Two weeks ago, travel insurance rival Travel Guard also
increased certain coverage limits.
