Bob Reichert, owner of Sunshine Travel in
Oklahoma City, has been awarded the 2006 IRIS Award grand prize by
MLT Vacations of Edina, Minn., for his "Where in the World is Bob?"
e-marketing campaign.
Established to
recognize innovation in the travel agent industry, the MLT
Vacations IRIS Award recognizes inspired business practices,
original ideas and strategic thinking and planning. "IRIS Award
winners represent the most creative, innovative and successful
travel agents in the industry," said Ken Pomerantz, president and
chief marketing officer for MLT Vacations.
Reichert's
e-marketing campaign is a twice-weekly e-mail distribution
featuring a photo of Reichert in an exotic location or posing
alongside a distinctive landmark.
He offers a
riddle as a hint to his location in the photo and invites e-mail
recipients to guess the destination. Recipients who answer
correctly are entered in a drawing to win a trip from Reichert's
Sunshine Travel.
"It's
entertaining on the surface, but the idea is to keep travel and
Sunshine Travel on their minds," Reichert said.
The 2006 IRIS
Awards were presented Jan. 12 at a ceremony in Las Vegas sponsored
by MLT Vacations, MGM Mirage, the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and the
Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Travel Weekly is
a media sponsor of the MLT IRIS Awards.
