WASHINGTON -- The International Airlines Travel Agent Network might
let travel firms apply for endorsement and register their employees
over its Web site later this year.
"People could fill out applications for endorsement on line and
then e-mail them back to us," Iatan president Michael Maino said in
an interview. "We're also looking at the Internet for agency owners
and managers to register newly hired employees. We'd generate a
printed confirmation [for the owner or manager] to make sure the
person didn't register himself."
Travel firms must be endorsed before they can register
employees, and employees must be registered before they can apply
for Iatan ID cards.
Currently, Iatan's Web site includes various application forms,
which can be printed and filled out for mailing to the Garden City,
N.Y.-based corporation. The address is www.iatan.org.
