Maupin Travel purchases N.C. agency

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Maupin Travel Cos., a 22-year-old travel management firm based here, acquired local competitor International Travel Group (ITG).

The acquisition is Maupin's third in four years.

ITG, one of Raleigh's oldest travel agencies, was founded in 1972 and generated sales revenues in excess of $10 million.

According to Tony Maupin, president and founder of Maupin Travel, "The acquisition will expand our rapidly growing meeting and groups division while enabling us to leverage additional buying power for our clients."

Maupin Travel, which manages corporate travel for more than 300 local and regional companies, has five locations in Raleigh and Cary, N.C., and sales revenues of more than $25 million.
