More than 10,000 travel agents have
registered to use VAX VacationAccess air-only booking engine,
powered by G2 SwitchWorks.
Trisept
Solutions, the creator of VAX, added the feature in April,
primarily at the behest of home-based and independent leisure
agents.
Registration for
the air-only feature is free, and agents do not need ARC status to
make a booking.
The system
enables agents to search and book fares from G2 partners Alaska, US
Airways (including America West), American, Continental, Delta,
Northwest and United. G2 has five-year agreements for full content
from these participating airlines.
Agents dont
receive incentives or commissions for the bookings, and they dont
count toward GDS productivity quotas.
Trisept said it
is developing a feature that would enable agents to tack on a
service fee to the air bookings.
In addition to a
low-fare search, the tool automates exchanges and refunds (full and
partial), the companies said. It also displays a void link if
tickets are eligible for voiding.
