Vacation Together to shut Sears locations

MILWAUKEE -- Vacation Together, a La Macchia Enterprises company, will close its nine Sears Vacations in-store retail locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Pennsylvania effective Nov. 1. They were first opened in January 2002.

According to Vacation Together president Kevin Froemming, the decision was reached mutually by Vacation Together and Sears on Sept. 30 after several weeks of discussion and analysis. Froemming said the stores were closed because they were not generating their projected revenue.

Seventeen jobs were eliminated by the closings. Froemming said some of the laid-off employees will be reassigned within La Macchia Enterprises.

Froemming said Vacation Together now will turn all its attention to its core business, which he describes as "developing turnkey Web site solutions for travel agents and marketing solutions for our Vacation Together Network agencies."
