With its borders reopened after a long closure, Japan is one of the most sought-after destinations for affluent travelers this spring, according to Virtuoso.
The travel agency consortium, which specializes in luxury travel, released its list of top 10 spring destinations based on future bookings, and Japan sits at No. 8.
The United States is the top destination, followed by Italy, France, Mexico, Spain, Bahamas and the United Kingdom. Rounding out the top 10 in spots 9 and 10 are Canada and Portugal.
Virtuoso also has more evidence that travelers are turning to advisors to help plan their vacations. In 2022, Virtuoso said its "Find an Advisor" feature on its website had a 34% increase in usage compared to 2021.
Also on the rise this year is demand for yachting experiences, Virtuoso said, especially in the Caribbean, Croatia, Greece and Saint-Tropez, France.
