NEWPORT, Ky. -- In the first two months after the Oceanic
Adventures Newport Aquarium opened May 15, the facility hosted more
than 500,000 visitors, according to officials, with a daily
admission level of 7,000. There were 600 groups among the
half-million visitors.
The new attraction is giving the entire region reason to
celebrate. According to officials, area stores and restaurants are
boasting of increased business, and area convention and visitor
bureaus said they are seeing one of the best tourist seasons in
years.
The 100,000-square-foot Newport Aquarium features 11,000
animals, five underwater tunnels, see-through floors and as many as
60 exhibits.
