EAST GREENVILLE, Pa. -- On-line discount travel site 1travel.com,
based here, said it acquired All Destinations Travel, one of the
first "virtual" travel agencies on the Web.
The acquisition is related to 1travel.com's development of
vacation packages and electronic commerce opportunities for media
and consumer product clients, to be sold in concert with editorial
themes and broadcast content.
"Although Internet automation is an integral part of these
packages, 1travel.com also recognized the need for in-house
fulfillment and 'live' customer service to meet the individual
demands of these products," the company said.
Nancy Zebrick, founder and president of All Destinations Travel,
will be director of leisure development for 1travel.com,
responsible for developing themed travel packages and coordinating
supplier relations.
The staff from All Destinations Travel will provide sales
support and coordinate with 1travel.com's customer service staff,
1travel.com said. All Destinations Travel started as a
general-service "bricks-and-mortar" travel agency in Cherry Hill,
N.J.
In 1998, Zebrick closed her retail offices to become a "virtual"
agency on the Web, focusing on honeymoons, spas and Caribbean
vacations.
