Pegasus says it processed 2.1 M hotel bookings in '99

DALLAS -- Pegasus Systems said it processed more than 2.1 million on-line hotel reservations last year, compared with 750,000 in 1998.

The company, which powers hotel bookings on more than 70 Web sites, including its own at travelweb.com, said its volume of on-line reservations in 1999 translates into about $500 million in hotel room sales.

Pegasus also reported that its hotel commission processing service paid out more than $320 million in commissions to member travel agencies in 1999, a 25.6% increase over 1998.

Pegasus' year-end financial report included revenue of $38 million, up 30.9% from $29.1 million in 1998. The firm had net income of $8.7 million for 1999, up from $5.4 million in 1998.
