Sabre has announced new agentic AI solutions that will enable travel agencies to connect their AI systems with Sabre.

Sabre has developed agentic-ready application programming interfaces (APIs) thanks to its new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. The MCP server, Sabre said, makes "the complex language of travel technology understandable to any AI agent."

Agentic AI is designed to achieve goals by taking actions with limited, or no, human involvement.

Travel agencies can use Sabre's APIs and the MCP server to link their own AI systems with the SabreMosaic platform.

"This empowers them to use capabilities within our platform like shop, book, service more easily — while delivering value quicker," Sabre said.

Agencies themselves determine what to use agentic AI for, Sabre said. Its goal is to enable agencies to use AI for a variety of purposes, like searching for and booking flights and hotels, checking prices and completing reservations.

"In the future, Sabre also plans to work with agencies in other impactful ways, like improving mid- and back-office tasks," Sabre said. "Sabre will continue to set the pace for technological advancement, proactively developing solutions that anticipate to solve the most pressing market needs."

The new APIs can also be utilized by airlines and developers.

Use cases for Sabre's APIs

In a release, Sabre outlined some use cases for agentic tools that Sabre's APIs could facilitate: An AI agent that waits on hold with an airline for rebooking and can handle payment and updating the traveler's calendar; an agent that can call a hotel late at night to confirm a traveler's arrival and arrange the next day's breakfast; and an expense-filing agent that gathers and codes receipts and submits a full report.

The new introductions are underpinned by Sabre IQ, its AI layer that works off large language model technology (the technology behind generative AI platforms like ChatGPT). It has access to a large swath of data stored in Sabre's Travel Data Cloud, which was developed as part of the company's partnership with Google.

"There's a difference between being smart and being truly intelligent at scale," Sabre chief product and technology officer Garry Wiseman said in a release. "With our new MCP server and agentic-ready APIs — supported by Sabre IQ and our industry-leading travel data set — we're planting a stake in the ground. This is the smartest enterprise AI solution in travel, designed for the entire industry to build on."
