Travelport on Wednesday revealed details of a new hotel booking engine that gives agents access to 200,000 properties.

Called Travelport Rooms and More, the new product is designed to be a one-stop hotel shop for travel agents, Travelport said, and will be rolled out to travel agencies in all regions by the end of the year.

Travelport said the program combines consumer insights, metasearch functionality and user interface developed by Sprice.com, which was acquired by Travelport in May 2010. Users will be able to comparison shop across multiple providers and make and cancel hotel bookings.

In addition to Travelport's GDS content, hotel listings will come from 20 aggregators and online travel agencies, including BedsOnline, TransHotel, LateRooms.com and LowCostBeds.com, giving agents access to over 200,000 hotels.

Niklas Andreen, Travelport’s vice president of global hospitality, said that new content would continue to be added post-launch and estimated that there could be as many as 50 aggregators signed up by the end of the year.

"Our leisure-focused travel agency customers told us they were spending far too much time searching for content across numerous hotel booking solutions and websites and then struggling with inefficient booking processes," Andreen said in a statement.

"We have responded to their feedback by combining the state-of-art technology we gained through our acquisition of Sprice with extensive new and varied hospitality content and a new highly efficient booking engine."

Travelport Rooms and More will include consumer hotel reviews and images as well as rental car content provided by TUI Cars.

Travelport said the product enables agents to take advantage of the rapidly growing hotel sector, and is part of the company’s "ongoing drive to enhance its hospitality offerings."

The company cited a recent Euromonitor forecast that the value of global hotel bookings will reach $545 billion in 2015, with a projected annual growth rate of 5.9% between 2010 and 2015.
