SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Travelocity, Sabre Interactive's on-line
service, signed an exclusive deal with the search engine Yahoo! to
provide co-branded air, hotel and car rental bookings. "Through
Travelocity, Yahoo! now offers access to the same system used by
more than 30,000 travel agencies worldwide," said Ellen Siminoff,
vice president of business development at Yahoo! based here.
Yahoo! boasts more than 25 million viewers per month.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. A similar pact last
September between Excite and Preview Travel called for Preview to
pay the Internet search engine $24 million during the next five
years.
Yahoo! partnered a year ago with Houston-based Travelogix,
another on-line travel booking site, for a service that launched
last March, said Susan Briggs, Yahoo! senior producer. With the
Travelogix agreement up for renewal, Yahoo! opted to expand a
previous agreement with Travelocity, Briggs said. That agreement,
forged last July, called for Travelocity to provide booking
services for a product called Netscape Guide by Yahoo!
