Nicholson-Doty, who replaces acting CEO Tiffany Howard, served in the top tourism post in the USVI from 2007 to 2018, longer than any commissioner before her. She resigned from that post in December, following the election of a new government.

Her achievements in the USVI included development of the Ports of the Virgin Islands' concept, which was to brand and develop a collaborative effort to elevate the territory's port facilities. She also is credited with the creation of a strategic plan to position the USVI as a top destination in the Meetings and Incentives market.

But her tenure also included the 2017 hurricanes, which struck the USVI hard.

She discussed tourism challenges, and successes, in an interview at at the beginning of 2019.

In her new role, she is responsible for the management and development of the tourism authority and said she intends to work closely with the public and private sectors of St. Lucia at home and abroad. Her responsibilities include coordinating and directing tourism marketing, promotion and publicity programs.

"Our team at the St. Lucia Tourism Authority will be focused on developing and implementing a strong strategic plan aimed at increasing market share, and even more importantly, increasing visitor spend for maximum return of investment," she said.
