Two luxury properties overlooking Merrywing Bay in Anguilla are now under new ownership.
Resort & Residences by CuisinArt, which encompass CuisinArt Golf, Resort & Spa, and adjacent sister property The Reef by CuisinArt, have been sold to Richard Schulze for an undisclosed price. Wischermann Lifestyle Hospitality Anguilla is the management company.
Schulze, the founder of Best Buy in the U.S., plans to upgrade the hydroponic gardens, to offer deep-sea fishing excursion operated by local fishermen and to add an archery range and a pool with waterfalls, among other enhancements.
Guests will not be impacted or disturbed by any construction that is planned, according to Schulze.
CuisinArt has 91 suites and seven villas and opened in 1998, while The Reef has 80 suites and opened in 2016.
Both properties have reopened following the Covid shutdown last March.
Simon Fricker, who has held executive posts with luxury hotel brands, including the Peninsula, St. Regis and Mandarin Oriental, was appointed managing director.
Staff retention and training remain a priority for ownership, according to Schulze.
Corrections: This report was updated to correct Simon Fricker's title. He was appointed managing director, not general manager. Also, Wischermann Lifestyle Hospitality Anguilla is the management company. New owner Richard Schulze is not part of the management company.
