Families heading to Amanyara Turks & Caicos are finding a youth activity program that features hands-on science projects and "out in the environment" guided experiences, such as kayaking and snorkeling.

The Science Explorers and Environmental Keepers, or SEEK program is a partnership with the resort and the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami.

Three primary themes are the focus of the eight camp sessions this year at the resort, targeted at the 5- to 10-year-old age group as well as preteens and teens ages 11 to 14.

Coastal Conservation, which runs March 18 to April 3 and Aug. 1 to 15 takes young explorers deep into the mangroves, sand dunes and marine life along the coastline to learn about conservation efforts. Kids kayak through the mangroves, build a coastline model and peer through a microscope at sand and plants.

Reef Rescue May 27 to 31 and July 1 to 5 brings kids up close and personal with corals and other marine life located along the pristine reefs of Northwest Point Marina National Park near the resort. The young science explorers will snorkel, kayak, build a coral reef and develop a Save the Reef campaign.

The Sun, Moon and Stars from Feb. 11 to 15 and Nov. 24 to 28 theme has the kids looking upward to the starlit skies as Frost educators explain the science of the stars, constellations and how to map the galaxy.

In addition to the programs, young guests take home keepsakes of their experiences as well as complimentary tickets to visit Frost Science in Miami.

"Our new program, developed exclusively for Amanyara, was designed to cultivate an interest in scientific discovery in the resort's youngest visitors and inspire them to be good stewards of our incredible planet," said Dr. Angela Colbert, Knight vice president of education at Frost Science.

Ian White, Amanyara's general manager, said that SEEK "will elevate our already strong family experiences," which include soccer and tennis camps, water sports and outdoor wellness activities.
