The French island group of Guadeloupe is under grey alert
following Hurricane Maria, which means that people must refrain from using
their vehicles to facilitate the cleanup of trees and debris off roads and
allow crews to restore power lines.
More than 80,000 users were left in the dark after Hurricane
Maria passed to the east of the island on Sept. 19.
"With two to three days, things will be back to normal,"
said Annick Girardin, French minister of Overseas France.
The main Pointe-A-Pitre Airport had only minimal damage and
has been fully operational since Tuesday afternoon.
Daniel Arnoux, CEO of the Des Hotels et Des Iles Group,
reported that hotels are operational and had only minor damage.
Hurricane Maria claimed one fatality in Guadeloupe, when a
man was killed by a falling tree.
Sister island Martinique had no significant damage.
