The Pink Palm Hotel has opened its doors in Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The resort, comprising 27 rooms and suites, overlooks the city's waterfront harbor and is a renovation of Smith's Fancy, which was used in the 1940s and 1950s as a guesthouse for those in fashion, art, music and film fields.

The boutique hotel sits on an acre and is composed of six buildings and features a pool, a hot tub, cocktail bar area and lounging areas. Among the offerings at the resort are garden walks to learn about the island's native species, movie screenings, events featuring local artists and galleries and live music from local musicians.

All of the deluxe king and grand king suites have outdoor areas balconies, patios and terraces with water views.

The hotel is initially only offering optional room-delivery breakfast baskets and limited snack items for guests, with plans to open a full-service restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner later this year. Dinner will also be available to nonguests.  The restaurant will be led by executive chef Bruce Miller, who has held chef positions in restaurants across Manhattan and the Long Island's North Fork, including Mas Farmhouse.

Starting rates are $319 per night on weekdays and $409 on weekends. The boutique hotel is the newest from the American Beech hospitality company, whose hotels include American Beech and the Aqua Beach Hotel on Long Island's North Fork.
