Aker Yards officially changed its name to STX Europa on Monday.

Aker Yards became part of South Korea-based STX Group in August, when STX became the principal shareholder. STX owns a 92.46% stake in Aker.

STX Europa is currently building Royal Caribbean International's Oasis-class ships, due to become the world's largest cruise vessels when they debut in 2009 in 2010.

STX has broad shipbuilding and shipping activities. The company had revenue of $11 billion last year and employs 39,000 people.

The company's ticker symbol on the Oslo Stock Exchange is now STXEUR (it was AKY).
