CLIA updated its protocols on coronavirus Covid-19 to include denying boarding to anyone who has traveled to any part of Italy subject to quarantine within 14 days of embarkation.

CLIA member lines had already been denying boarding to anyone traveling from, visiting or transiting through airports in South Korea, Iran, China, including Hong Kong and Macau.

Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far implemented quarantines in parts of Veneto and Lombardy.

The update comes shortly after the U.S. State Department issued a Level 3 travel advisory (reconsider travel) for Italy because of the coronavirus outbreak, and a Level 4 advisory (do not travel) for Lombardy and Veneto.

CLIA will conduct illness screenings for anyone who has traveled through airports within 14 days before embarkation who have symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing.
