Terry Thornton, most recently Carnival Cruise Line’s senior
vice president of nautical and port operations, retired after 31 years with the
Thornton joined Carnival in 1989 as manager of special
projects and held numerous positions across the organization in marketing,
itinerary planning and deployment.
“The consummate professional with encyclopedic knowledge of
every aspect of our operations, Terry quickly earned the respect of everyone
who worked with him -- from co-workers to port personnel and
destination partners,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival president, in a
statement. “His contributions to our company and industry are immeasurable.”
Thornton is the latest longtime executive to step down from
Carnival Corp. brands amid the Covid-19 pandemic started. Princess, Holland
America Line and Seabourn also saw departures in recent weeks.
