Celebrity swaps ships on South America, Caribbean itineraries

MIAMI -- Celebrity Cruises is swapping two of its nearly identical Millennium-class ships on its 2006 South America sailings, due to a change in the Infinity's drydock schedule.

The Millennium, which will enter a drydock in November, will replace the Infinity in South America, starting with a Christmas Eve sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Valparaiso, Chile, resuming its regular Caribbean season on April 2. The ship offers alternating 14-day cruises between Valparaiso and Buenos Aires, Argentina and a Carnaval cruise roundtrip from Buenos Aires.

The Infinity, now scheduled for a March 20 drydock in the Caribbean, will depart San Diego, Calif., for a 14-day Panama Canal cruise and will begin cruising from Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 24. The ship will sail seven-day eastern Caribbean cruises.

The line also added four seven-day cruises on the Century that sail roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale during the Infinity's drydock period, between March 19 and April 9.
