Celebrity Cruises assumed ownership of the completed
Celebrity Edge from the Chantiers de L’Atlantique shipyard in a ceremony in
St. Nazaire, France.
The 2,700-passenger Edge is scheduled to sail Nov. 6 from
France to its home at the new T25 terminal at Port Everglades in Fort
Lauderdale.
Following the Celebrity Edge check-signing and delivery
ceremony, the second ship in the Edge series, Celebrity Apex, was started with
the lifting of a 762-ton block into place over a commemorative coin. That ship is due is 2020.
Two more ships in the class are on order for delivery in
2021 and 2022.
