Costa Cruises' two newest ships will be named the Costa Favolosa and the Costa Fascinosa when they debut in 2011 and 2012.

Costa held a contest that allowed travel agents to decide the names of its 16th and 17th ships.

The two 114,500-ton, 3,000-passenger sister ships will be built by Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard and are part of Costa's major fleet expansion. Five new ships will be delivered between 2009 and 2012.

Two of the vessels, the Costa Luminosa and the Costa Pacifica, were delivered this year. The Costa Deliziosa is set to debut in January 2010.

Costa said that 40,000 travel agents in more than 40 countries submitted more than 16,000 pairs of names as part of the "Send Us a Sea of Names" contest.
