Debut of the Disney Wish delayed until summer 2022

Disney Cruise Line confirmed today that delivery of its upcoming newbuild, the Disney Wish, has been delayed until summer 2022.

The ship was originally slated to be delivered in late 2021 and begin sailing in early 2022. Disney said today that the ship's maiden voyage is now set for summer 2022 "due to pandemic-related delays at the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Germany." The 1,250-passenger, liquefied natural gas-powered ship will be Disney's largest

Disney also said that its return to Hawaii will be pushed to 2022, with two 10-day sailings to Honolulu from Vancouver and back, on the Disney Wonder. The line said in 2018 that it would return to Hawaii in 2020 for the first time since 2015.

Also in 2022, the line will offer cruises to the Bahamas, Caribbean and Mexico from U.S. homeports including New Orleans; Galveston, Texas; San Diego; Miami; and Port Canaveral, Fla. Every cruise from Florida in early 2022 will include a visit to Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.
