Delivery of Coral Princess delayed

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Unexpected delays at Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard will postpone the delivery of Princess Cruises' Coral Princess, the line said.

The vessel's inaugural 10-day Panama Canal cruise has been set back one sailing, to Dec. 24.

Passengers on the cancelled Dec. 14 sailing will receive a full refund, plus a $500 per cabin credit; agent commissions are protected.

Meanwhile, the first female president of Panama will christen the Coral Princess during a ceremony in the Panama Canal Jan. 17.

Mireya Moscoso, who took office in 1999, will preside over the ceremony to take place in the canal's Gatun Locks. Princess said it would be the first time a ship is christened in the canal.
