Carnival Cruise Line said the Carnival Sunrise's godmother will
be chairman Micky Arison's daughter, Kelly Arison.
Kelly Arison will christen the Carnival Sunrise.
The Sunrise, currently the Carnival Triumph, will be formally
renamed at an invitation-only ceremony in New York on May 23 after a lengthy renovation.
The Carnival Triumph was named by Kelly Arison's mother,
Madeleine Arison, when the ship entered service in 1999.
The naming ceremony will take place aboard the ship at the
Manhattan Cruise Passenger Terminal and will serve as a platform to heighten
awareness of the work of the Ehlers-Danlos Society, an organization dedicated
to serving those with joint hypermobility spectrum disorders, of which Kelly is
a strong advocate.
