Norwegian Cruise Line canceled all Alaska sailings on the Norwegian Sun through Oct. 18 and will redeploy the ship to Port Canaveral, Fla.

The Sun’s Alaska season, originally scheduled to start May 21, would have been delayed due to coronavirus-related Canadian cruise restrictions and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s extended no-sail order from U.S. ports through July.

Norwegian said that it has reduced rates for its cruises in July, August and September across the three ships that will stay in Alaska: the Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Jewel.

The Sun will reposition to Port Canaveral to sail short cruises of three to five days to the Bahamas and Florida as well as the western Caribbean.
