Norwegian Cruise Line has standardized cabin categories fleetwide, starting with new bookings for April 2011 departures.

Inventory with the new categorization will open for booking during the first quarter of 2010. The change will make it easier for travel agents to locate and book specialty staterooms, NCL said.

The primary categories will be suites (S), mini-suites (M), balconies (B), ocean views (O), insides (I) and studios (T).

Each letter will be followed by a number to note it as a specialty cabin (for example, B1 is an aft-facing balcony) or with a letter to note it as a standard cabin (BA is a midship balcony).

Agents should receive deck plans with the new categorization by Jan. 1, NCL said.
