The Norwegian Viva, the second ship in Norwegian Cruise Line's Prima class, welcomed its first guests on Thursday.

The Viva departed Trieste, Italy, on a nine-day maiden cruise that will end in Lisbon. The ship will sail Mediterranean and Greek island cruises through November before homeporting in San Juan for a year of Caribbean sailings.

The Viva will return to Europe in May 2024 to sail Mediterranean itineraries.

The Viva mirrors the design of Norwegian Prima, a sister ship that made her debut last summer. Highlights are the three-level Viva Speedway go-kart racetrack; the Indulge food hall with 11 eateries; the Drop and Rush dry slides; and the Metropolitan Bar with its zero-waste cocktails.

Entertainment is headlined by "Beetlejuice The Musical" and game show "Press Your Luck Live."
