Paul Gauguin Cruises has sold the Tere Moana to Grand Circle Cruises, less than three years after the luxury ship entered service for Paul Gauguin. The purchase price wasn’t disclosed.

The Tere Moana sails the Caribbean and Latin America during winter months and Europe throughout the rest of the year. Paul Gauguin Cruises will continue operating all of the Tere Moana’s scheduled voyages through May 14, 2016.

Paul Gauguin Cruises had acquired the ship from Ponant and refurbished the former Le Levant in the fall of 2012. It entered service as the Tere Moana in December 2012.

“It’s hard to part with the Tere Moana,” said Richard Bailey, chairman and CEO of Paul Gauguin Cruises. “But we received an attractive offer to purchase the vessel and decided to take this opportunity to refocus in our home territory of French Polynesia.”

The company’s other vessel, the Paul Gauguin, sails to Tahiti, Fiji and other South Pacific destinations.
