Princess Cruises has partnered with Bon Appetit magazine to
assemble a series of culinary shore excursions. Guests will be able to choose
from 30 excursions beginning this year.
Princess said the tours fall in two categories: Exclusive
Tours, which are small-group tours available only through Princess and Bon
Appetit, and Recommended Tours, which offer a "celebration of gastronomy
endorsed by the experts at Bon Appetit."
On both, Princess said guests will gain a deepened
understanding of the destination "through a small-group, sensory journey
of authentic culinary experiences drawing from the life of locals."
It said the excursions will immerse travelers in local
ingredients and cooking styles, as well as demonstrations and tastings from
local chefs and personalities.
As an example of an Exclusive Tour, Princess said guests
going ashore in Dublin can learn to prepare scones from Catherine Fulivio, chef
and proprietor of Ballyknocken Cookery School, House and Restaurant.
An example of a Recommended Tour in Alaska is the Juneau
Foodie Walking Tour, where participants will taste crab bisque, fish tacos and
smoked pork, along with local Alaska beer and wine.
