The Carnival Legend was delayed in both returning to and leaving its Tampa homeport Sunday due to a technical problem with its propulsion system.
Carnival Cruise Lines said that the problem affects the vessel’s sailing speed and that all other systems on board are operating normally.
Because of delayed departure from Tampa and the propulsion problem, the ship’s scheduled stop today at Grand Cayman was replaced with a call at Cozumel.
The incident comes shortly after another Carnival ship, the Destiny, had to cancel two sailings to repair a propulsion problem.
The Destiny is currently in a one-week drydock that forced Carnival to cancel the ship’s Feb. 13 and Feb. 18 departures from Miami.
Carnival said that repairs to the Legend were ongoing and that an update regarding the balance of the Legend’s itinerary would be provided soon.
The ship operates seven-day cruises from Tampa calling at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize and Roatan.
