Points Choice, Royal Caribbean Group's new flexible loyalty program, will be effective for all sailings departing on and after Jan. 30.

Through the program, guests sailing with one of the company's lines -- Royal Caribbean, Celebrity or Silversea -- can designate the earned points to any of the brands.

Guests must submit requests each time they want to take advantage of Points Choice. They can do so online at any time before the sailing and for up to 14 days after the sailing. Guests can also submit requests in the cruise line's app for sailings with Royal Caribbean International or Celebrity.

Points Choice builds on the flexibility introduced with Royal Caribbean Group's status-match program, through which guests are offered equivalent loyalty statuses with each of the three lines. The company announced the addition of Points Choice in October but had not specified when the program would start.
