Seabourn launched a free, online course for travel agents that is geared to help them sell luxury cruises.

Called Seabourn Academy, the course is a six-module training program that agents can access at www.seabournacademy.com.

Each of the modules is divided into four to seven lessons, and each opens with a list of learning objectives and ends with a final exam.

The courses cover topics such as an "Introduction to Luxury Cruising," "Selling to Luxury Clients" and "Support to Help You Make Sales."

Three of the courses provide detailed information about Seabourn's onboard experience, its fleet and the seven geographical regions where the ships cruise.

Agents who complete the training receive certification as Seabourn specialists. Seabourn Academy training also qualifies for education credits from CLIA, The Travel Institute and the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors.

In addition, agent graduates can qualify for a $100 bonus commission on a first Seabourn booking made within 60 days after graduation.

"Seabourn has been working with the most innovative and successful travel agents in the world for years," said John Delaney, Seabourn's senior vice president of marketing and sales. "We are certain that agents will be able to learn a lot about Seabourn and luxury travel from the academy; the curriculum is a veritable gold mine of information about how to find, attract and market to affluent consumers."
