Viking Cruises said "a small number of
non-life-threatening injuries" have been reported during the ongoing incident
off the coast of Norway.
In a statement, Viking said that its Viking Sky ship lost
engine power off the Norwegian coast near Molde.
"Our first priority was for the safety and wellbeing of
our passengers and our crew, and in close cooperation with the Norwegian Coast
Guard, the captain decided to evacuate all guests from the vessel by
helicopter. The ship is proceeding on its own power and a tugboat is on site,"
the Viking statement said. "The evacuation is proceeding with all necessary
caution."
Viking said a phone line (888) 889-8837 is available for
anyone with questions about guests onboard from North America.
For other inquiries, Viking suggested calling customer
relations at (877) 523-0579 or sending an e-mail to [email protected].
Viking said guests scheduled to sail on the Viking Sky will
be notified directly should itinerary changes be necessary. It suggested guests
log on to MyVikingJourney.com for details regarding specific voyages.
