A fire in the engine room of an UnCruise Adventures ship sailing in Alaska led to the evacuation of 51 guests.

The Wilderness Discoverer was sailing in Glacier Bay National Park the morning of June 5 when a fire started in the engine room, where it was contained and extinguished by the crew.

UnCruise said 51 guests and 17 crew were evacuated from the ship. Guests were taken aboard the Sapphire Princess and then were transferred to the Baranof Wind and disembarked at the national park's headquarters. They were provided hotels and flights home.

The cruise line will be providing a full refund to all affected passengers.

The ship is repairable, according to UnCruise, and could sail again this season depending on the extent of the damage.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. UnCruise said it is cooperating with authorities and plans to release more details in the coming days.
