Viking announced a collaboration with Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England -- the filming location of "Downton Abbey" -- to build an events space.

The new space -- to be called the Viking Pavilion -- will replace the temporary marquee on the castle's southwest lawn. Viking said the building will be constructed to complement the castle.

The cruise line has partnered with the castle, home to the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, for more than a decade. Some Viking itineraries include a visit to the castle.

Viking executive vice president of product Karine Hagen said the Viking Pavilion "will provide future visitors -- including Viking travelers -- a beautiful setting for enriching experiences at Highclere, while also helping to preserve this iconic landmark."

Viking said guest access will be expanded to include lectures and roundtable discussions hosted by Lady Carnarvon and other experts in the pavilion.

Financial details of Viking's support weren't shared. Viking is a corporate sponsor of "Downton Abbey," the Masterpiece drama series on PBS. Viking has supported PBS since 2011.
