Windstar Cruises has canceled the remainder of its 2020 cruises.

In a statement, the line said that it had "hoped the number of cases of Covid and episodes of transmission would be in decline by now and that the world recovery from the pandemic would be faster, but based on what we are seeing, we believe the most prudent way forward to keep our guests and crew safe is to postpone all Windstar sailings until next year."

Windstar had planned to resume sailings in Tahiti in September on its 148-passenger tall ship, the Wind Spirit, followed by the Mediterranean in October and the Caribbean in November.

The small-ship line said that during its pause in operations it is reviewing and updating its health and safety practices. Last month, it returned to a service plan that included retrofitting its six ships with hospital-grade air filters and UV-C light that kills bacteria and viruses.

Guests on all canceled cruises will receive a future cruise credit valued at 125% or will be given a refund.

Cunard Line this week also canceled all sailings through early 2021.
