HERSHEY, Pa. -- A touch of Hollywood is coming to Hershey this
spring.
"Hershey's Really Big 3-D Show" will premiere in a new, 250-seat
theater inside Hershey Chocolate World in April. Chocolate World is
the visitors center located at the entrance of Hersheypark.
The 3-D project is in the hands of Landmark Entertainment Group,
the outfit behind such theme park shows as "Terminator 2 3-D,"
"Star Trek: The Experience" and "Shrine of the Magic Dragon." The
30-minute show will boast the usual elements of a Hollywood
production -- romance, drama and adventure -- with the addition of
Hershey characters comings to life on the big screen.
Entrance to Chocolate World is free, but admission for the
production is $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for kids ages 3 to 8.
Group discounts and student rates are available. Groups can make
advance reservations.
If
the show makes visitors crave something sweet, they can satisfy
their taste buds at Chocolate World's two eateries. The Chocolate
Town Cafe is a full-service restaurant that boasts the best
chocolate milk shakes, according to marketing manager Todd Kohr.
Another dining option is the Courtyard Cafe Food Court, where
soups, salads, pizzas, desserts and specialty coffees are on the
menu.
Chocolate World is using its new theater and existing venues to
attract the meetings and group market. Groups can use the space
after hours for awards presentations, cocktail parties and the
like.
Hershey also is focusing its attention on the annual Christmas
in Hershey celebration. The event is held through Jan. 1; days and
hours vary. Admission is free this time of year, but guests must
pay as they go for rides.
Additional holiday highlights include strolling carolers and
brass bands, horse-drawn carriage rides and Santa visits.
The Hotel Hershey and the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center
offer packages in conjunction with the holiday festivities,
including an Evening With Dickens. From January through April, the
properties feature Winter on the Hill weekend getaways.
Hersheypark and Chocolate World are open year-round, except
Christmas day. Hersheypark offers more than 60 attractions and
rides. Other components include the ZooAmerica North American
Wildlife Park, Hershey Museum and Hershey Gardens.
