MELBOURNE, Australia -- The Park Hyatt Melbourne, one of only 14
Park Hyatts in the world, has emerged as one of the city's
preferred places to stay for upscale business and leisure
travelers.
A short walk from the city's business district, the Park Hyatt
is situated in an area bordered by century-old elm trees and
adjacent to Melbourne's St. Patrick's Cathedral.
"Since we are targeting the top end of a very competitive
market, it's imperative that we deliver the kind of world class
amenities and personal, attentive service that our sophisticated,
well-traveled and often demanding clients expect," said manager
Ernesto A'de Lima during a tour of the property.
Built at a cost of about $550 million, it ranks as one of the most
expensive properties ever built in Australia.
From the elaborately adorned lobby, restaurants and meeting
areas to the lavishly appointed guest rooms and suites, there is
extensive use of high-quality imported materials, such as inlaid
Italian marble and mahogany wood paneling from South America.
Among the Park Hyatt's amenities is the Park Club Health &
Day Spa, offering a variety of therapeutic and pampering
treatments, such as facials, massages, body wraps, hairstyling,
hydrotherapy, sauna, steam baths and herbal baths.
There also is an Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool, a tennis
court, a sun deck and a fitness facility.
Public areas devoted to dining and relaxing include the Radii
Restaurant & Bar and the Trilogy Bistro & Lounge, as well
as a cigar bar and a tea lounge.
The property accommodates meetings, banquets, cocktail
receptions and other corporate events in its Grand Ballroom, which
features walls lined with silver and gold silk and a sunken parquet
dance floor beneath a vaulted, silver-leafed dome.
In addition, there are two multipurpose rooms, an additional
meeting room and a boardroom.
All function rooms are equipped with video and computer data
projection equipment with satellite reception for
teleconferencing.
The Park Hyatt offers 10 price categories for accommodations,
featuring deluxe rooms, premium rooms, Regency Club rooms, Regency
Premier rooms and six categories of suites (executive, cathedral,
terrace, deluxe, ambassador and presidential).
