Rates & Dates: Onyx Hotel offers sports plan for hoops, hockey

Fans of the National Hockey Leagues Boston Bruins or the National Basketball Associations Boston Celtics can enjoy an overnight stay at the Onyx Hotel with its Sports Fanatic package, valid Dec. 15 through April 30.

The package includes a room with either one king bed or two double beds, a six-pack of Samuel Adams Boston Lager, a bottle opener, a bottomless bowl of pretzels, a current issue of Sports Illustrated and breakfast for two in the Ruby Room Lounge.

Rates start at $229 per room, double. The plan is available to anyone with tickets to an event at the TD Banknorth Garden, whether it is a hockey game, a basketball game, a concert or any other event.

Also in Boston, the debut of the exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination at Bostons Museum of Science is the inspiration for the Fairmont Copley PlazasStar Wars package, valid through April 4. The museum exhibit is on display to April 30.

The plan, priced at $229 per room, includes two tickets to the exhibit. A family plan, with four tickets, is priced at $299 per room.

Meanwhile, accommodations in the Fairmonts  Museum of Science Suite can be reserved for an additional $300 per night or on the club level Fairmont Gold floor for an additional $100 per night.

In other Fairmont news, the Fairmont Washington, D.C. is inviting girlfriends to spend a decadent Saturday night at the hotel with the Femme Fatale package.

Through Dec. 30, four friends can stay on the Fairmont Gold concierge floor in the two-bedroom Presidential Suite. Included are caviar, Taittinger champagne, monogrammed robes, aromatherapy candles, an in-room manicure for each woman, limousine transportation for the evening and a gourmet breakfast in the Fairmont Gold Lounge.

Speaking of girlfriends, the recently renovated Cocoa Beach Hilton Oceanfront created the Surfer Girls package.

Rates for the plan, valid through March 31, start at $189 per night, double, and cover beachside accommodations, an in-room movie and turndown service with milk and cookies. Also covered is a surf lesson for two and discounts at nearby Ron Jon Surf Shop.

Recent renovations to the hotel include refitting all guest rooms and updating all public areas.
