NEW YORK -- The second-largest city in Holland welcomed one of its
only topflight international hotels in September when the 231-room
Westin opened in the heart of Rotterdam's business district.
The Westin is opposite the Central Rail Station. Trains run to
Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, Brussels and other cities.
The hotel is connected with De Doelen, the city's main concert
hall and congress center, via a skybridge and is adjacent to the
upscale Plaza shopping center and casino.
The Westin Rotterdam is the first hotel in Europe to feature
Westin's trademark "Heavenly Beds" in all rooms and suites.
Introduced in the U.S. last year, Westin's Heavenly Bed features
a custom-designed pillowtop mattress set, down blanket,
high-quality linens, a white coverlet and five queen-size and
king-size pillows.
The hotel also features six modular meeting rooms and a
restaurant. A fitness center will be completed by the summer.
Rates start at $271, double.
With this addition, Westin brands in Europe total 15 properties,
including the Westin Palace, Madrid; the Westin Excelsior, Rome;
the Westin Excelsior, Florence, Italy; the Westin Trianon Palace,
Versailles, France; Turnberry Hotel, Golf Courses and Spa, A Westin
Resort, Ayrshire, Scotland, and the Westin Grand, Berlin.
