Procida, an island in the Gulf of Naples, was named Italy's Capital of Culture for 2022, according to Italian Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini.
Procida is tiny -- its population is only about 10,000 -- but the island features outsize charm, colorful architecture, sea views and a centuries-old history.
Parma, which earned the top spot in 2020, will retain its title for 2021 because of the pandemic.
Bergamo and Brescia, which have been hard-hit by the pandemic, will share the spotlight 2023.
