Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas marked the grand opening of the Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavs Marbella Resort this month, its first property in Spain.

Located on Spain's southern coast in the hills above Marbella and Puerto Banus, the property comprises 123 guestrooms and suites and nine one- and two-bedroom villas, each equipped with private pools and dedicated butler service.

The property, which was designed by British architect Ed Gilbert, also features a garden swimming pool and three golf courses. All villas and many guestrooms offer private terraces overlooking the golf courses and the sea.
Design highlights include more than 1,200 original artworks, including paintings, sculptures and artifacts displayed throughout the property and gardens.

Dining options include the 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant; O by Paco Roncero, overseen by Spanish two-Michelin-star chef Paco Roncero and set to open later this month; Eddy's Bar; the Champagne and oyster bar at Club de Mar Beach Club; and private al fresco dining.

The 21,000-square-foot Anantara Spa features 10 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy circuit, a Turkish hammam, aromatherapy steam rooms and relaxation areas as well as medical and after-golf treatments, private meditation sessions and Pilates classes.

Activities include hiking in the Sierra las Nievas mountains; private helicopter excursions to Ronda, a Unesco World Heritage Site; vintage car outings to the Pueblos Blancos (White Towns) in the mountains; and olive oil and wine tastings.

Guests can also take golf lessons at the Tramores Golf Academy by Michael Campbell.

The Villa Padierna Golf Club offers three 18-hole golf courses: the par-71 Flamingos Course, par-73 Alferini Course and par-63 Tramores Course.

The 22,000-square-foot Villa Padierna Racquet Club offers tennis courts, paddle tennis courts and a croquet lawn. A Kid's Club and child-friendly welcome amenities for families also are available.

The property is a 50-minute drive from Malaga Airport.

Nightly rates start at about $240, double, including breakfast and value-added tax.
