Azores Airlines is debuting weekly service to Porto, Portugal, from Boston this winter with an optional stayover in Terceira in the Azores. The flights will operate every Wednesday, with return flights scheduled for Thursdays.
The way it works is that travelers flying from either Boston or Porto can spend as many days in the Azores on the way -- or both ways.
Flights start at $286 one way; fares cover the length of the trip. The flight to the Azores is about four hours from Boston, with an additional two-hour flying time to Portugal.
New hotel discounts, tours, sightseeing, restaurants and experiences also are available via the Azores Stopover program.
Azores Air has offered the stayover program on its Boston-Lisbon flights and will continue to do so.
