Germany gained its 41st UNESCO World Heritage Site July 17
with the addition of two Le Corbusier houses at the Weissenhof Estate in
Stuttgart.
It is the city’s first site on the UNESCO list.
The two Stuttgart houses, the architect’s only buildings
in Germany, comprise the Weissenhof Museum and showcase the architect’s
contribution to modernism.
Germany’s other 40 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, accessible
via eight themed tourist routes, include the Cologne Cathedral, the Wadden Sea
habitat, Weimar and Regensburg’s Old Town.
