The Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia's capital will celebrate its 70th anniversary from June 21 to Sept. 8.
The event will feature ballet and opera performances, musicals, chamber and symphonic concerts, as well as a variety of workshops and masterclasses in the arts.
Highlights will include the West Side Story musical; the Bejart Ballet; La damnation de Faust, conducted by Charles Dutoit; mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca; the actor John Malkovich; the tenor Placido Domingo; and many more.
The festival will end with the Vienna Philharmonic, with Finnish conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
This year is also marked by the 150th anniversary of the birth of the architect Joze Plecnik, who designed the festival's main venue, the Krizanke Summer Theatre.
