The Britannia hotel in Trondheim, Norway, reopened April 29 after 44 days of closure as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 257-room hotel, which opened in 1870 and completed a three-year, multimillion-dollar renovation in April 2019, shuttered because of the pandemic on March 16.
"This hotel has seen a lot in its 150-year history," said Mikael Forselius, the Britannia's managing director. "It has survived two world wars, the influenza pandemic of 1918-19 and now Covid-19."
In February 2020, the hotel's Speilsalen restaurant, one of the property's six restaurants, and its chef Christopher Davidsen received a Michelin star for its multicourse tasting menu.
Trondheim is Norway's third-largest city.
