The Mayfair Townhouse, a 172-room property overlooking London’s Green Park, marked its grand opening Dec. 3.
The fifth hotel in the Iconic Luxury Hotels portfolio, the property is located on Half Moon Street in Mayfair, noteworthy for being the setting of Oscar Wilde's play, “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
Also nearby are Fortnum & Mason, the Royal Academy of Arts, the historic Burlington Arcade and Hyde Park Corner.
Helmed by the U.K.-based Goddard Littlefair interior design team, the property comprises 15 connected Georgian buildings dating from the mid-18th century and features an art collection showcasing emerging and known artists and curated by art specialist Minda Dowling.
Guests can learn about the hotel’s art, including Clarita Brinkerhoff’s peacock sculpture made from 25,000 Swarovski crystals, via a tour with QR codes.
Other highlights include the Dandy Bar, with its theatrical, dimly lit atmosphere and signature cocktails, and a multiuse public space for informal work and leisure gatherings.
Guestrooms and suites are individually decorated and feature high-end linens and robes as well as such quirky touches as a complimentary minibar with “flamboyant” extra socks and in-room absinthe cocktail kits.
